1.Broken Radio
Late at night, I'm drivin home,
Radio's broken, I'm all alone,
Empty streets
Feels like I'm goin' nowhere,
Because I've got no music,
To get me from here to there.
Too much time, behind this wheel,
Streetlights glarin', it makes me feel
Lonelier.
Wish I was at my front door,
'Cause when you've got no music
Driving's a big, bad bore
Sittin' all alone
I can't help reminiscin',
Got the blues in stereo,
'Cause the melody's gone missin',
From my broken radio.
My hand keeps reaching to turn it on,
Wishin' and a hopin' for Sarah Vaughn,
No such luck
But I do want the be-bop she sings,
'Cause when you've got no music,
You really ain't got a thing.
Sittin all alone
I can't help reminiscin',
Got the blues in stereo,
'Cause the melody's gone missin',
From my broken radio.
My motor keeps hummin' the same old tune
It's a one-note overload,
And there's a mad light from the full moon,
Hangin up over the road.
Conversations with myself,
My eyelids are closing,
Its almost twelve,
Home at last,
Almost went off the deep end,
'Cause when you've got no music,
It feels like you've got no friend.
Sittin all alone,
I can't help reminiscing,
Got the blues in stereo,
'Cause the melody's gone missin',
From my broken radio,
This ol' broken radio,
Oh, my broken radio. ♠

2.On and On
Down in Jamaica, they got lots of pretty women,
Steal your money, then they break your heart.
Lonesome Sue, she's in love with ol' Sam,
Take him from the fire to the frying pan.
On and on, she just keeps on trying,
And she smiles when she feels like crying,
On and on, on and on,
On and on.
Poor ol' Jimmy sits alone in the moonlight.
Saw his woman kiss another man.
So he takes a ladder, steals the stars from the sky,
Puts on Sinatra and starts to cry.
On and on, he just keeps on trying,
And he smiles when he feels like crying,
On and on, on and on,
On and on.
When the first time is the last time,
It can make you feel so bad,
But if you know it, show it,
Hold on tight, don't let him say Goodnight,
Don't say, Goodnight.
I got the sun on my shoulder, and my toes in the sand.
My baby's left me for some other girl.
Ah, but I don't care, I'll just dream and stay tan,
Toss up my heart and see where it lands.
On and on, I just keep on trying,
And I smile when I feel like dying,
On and on, on and on,
On and on.
On and on, on and on,
On and on.
On and on, on and on,
On and on. ♠

3.In the Name of Love
It seems like only yesterday,
You said that I was blind,
And now I see your face in every window,
And I find,
It's better this way,
There's a chance we can be happy if we keep it this way,
Can't forget the hurtful things we both used to say,
In the name of love.
The ache is still new,
Every day I find a reason not to hold on to you,
Learn to live and breath again as one, not as two,
In the name of love.
Passion born from habit is no passion,
You've become a habit I can break,
The glass we shared too often was half empty,
And I cry to think it's all been a mistake.
So onward we go,
With a little luck and time the clouds will clear, and we'll know,
What it means to care enough to let someone go,
In the name of love.
We'll say we did it in the name of love. ♠

4.Circle Game
Yesterday a child came out to wonder,
Caught a dragonfly inside a jar,
Fearful when the sky was full of thunder,
And tearful at the falling of a star.
And the seasons they go round and round
Then the child moved ten times round the seasons,
Skated over ten clear frozen streams,
Words like "When you're older", must appease him,
And promises of someday make his dreams.
And the seasons they go round and round,
The painted ponies go up and down.
Sixteen springs and sixteen summers gone now,
Cartwheels turn to carwheels through the town,
And they tell him, "Take your time. It won't be long now
'Till you drag your feet to slow the circles down"
And the seasons they go round and round,
The painted ponies go up and down,
We're captive on the carousel
Of time,
We can't return, we can only look
Behind from where we came,
And go 'round and 'round and 'round
In the circle game.
So the years spin by and now the boy is twenty,
Though his dreams have lost some grandeur coming true,
There'll be new dreams, maybe better dreams, and plenty,
Before the last revolving year is through.
And the seasons they go 'round and 'round,
The painted ponies go up and down,
We're captive on the carousel of time,
We can't return, we can only look
Behind from where we came
And go 'round and 'round and 'round
In the circle game,
The circle game,
The circle game,
In the circle game. ♠

5.How Do You Know
How do you know if your mind's playing tricks,
And you're only hearing what you want to hear?
How do you know when your heartbeat is pounding,
Is it love, is it lust, is it fear?
'Cause I am floating over my body,
Speculating, "is this wrong, is this right?"
And I can't stop my mind from racing,
And I can't sleep at night.
How do you know what to think, when one touch
Starts a tremor and you lose your ground control?
How do you know if it's truth or it's madness,
If you hold him too hard will he go?
'Cause I am floating over my body,
Speculating "Is this wrong, is this right?"
And I can't stop my mind from racing,
And I can't sleep at night.
Speak to me, your voice is like a lovesong in disguise,
This has all the makings of romance.
Do you see what I see when I look into your eyes,
Or am I just a fool for a slow dance?
'Cause I am floating over my body,
Speculating "Is this wrong, is this right?"
And I can't stop my mind from racing,
And I can't sleep at night.
How do you know when your mind's playing tricks,
How do you what to think,
How do you know when your mind's playing tricks,
How do you know what to think. ♠

6.Will It Be Alright
When the morning comes, to relieve the night,
And the air is still, in the waking light,
Will it be alright?
Will it be alright?
If I close my eyes, can we disappear,
And relive the life we imagined here?
Will it be alright?
Will it be alright?
Tell me a story, sing me a song,
Make it end happy, where nothing goes wrong.
Paint me a picture of bygone days,
Of gentler times, of faraway.
If a storm is due, should I run and hide,
Would you shelter me, from the cold outside?
Will it be alright?
Will it be alright?
Make me a promise, swear that it's true,
Help me remember the laughter we knew.
Friends are forever, but lovers go.
Can love survive with what we know?
In another time, and another place,
I will watch for you, you will know my face.
Will it be alright?
Will it be alright?
It'll be alright. ♠

7.Losing You
Was a fool with my money and I lost every dime,
And the sun stopped shining and it rained all the time,
It did set me back some, but I made it through,
But I'll never get over losing you.
Do you know how much you mean to me,
Should've told you 'cause it's true.
I'd get over losing anything,
But I'll never get over losing you.
When you're young and there's time, you forget the past.
You don't think that you will, but you do.
But I know that I don't have time enough,
And I'll never get over losing you.
I've been cold, I've been hungry, but not for awhile.
I guess most of my dreams have come true.
With it all here around me, no peace do I find,
'Cause I'll never get over losing you.
I'll never, no I'll never,
I'll never get over losing you. ♠

8.No Turning Back
The teenage princess, so bleached and sad
She grew up yesterday
So tall, so small, so faraway
Forgot her name and was led astray
And there's no turning back
There's no turning back
Approaching manhood, the boy won't cry
Except when he's alone
He truly yearns to stand with pride
But, oh, that's such a big world outside
And there's no turning back
There's no turning back
'Cause up ahead is a scary place
And backwards is a sad disgrace
Stuck in the middle and forced to face
That there's no turning back
The smiling lady who says "Not me"
Afraid to drop her guard
It aches and stings the hurt's so deep
The tears creep up when she tries to sleep
And there's no turning back
There's no turning back
'Cause up ahead is a scary place
But backwards is a sad disgrace
Stuck in the middle and forced to face
That there's no turning back
The darks and lights
Of days and nights
A work of art
Must break your heart
His castle's crumbling beyond repair
The king's a broken man
Today he beats his chest and roars
Tomorrow faces the next closed door
And there's no turning back,
There's no turning back
'Cause up ahead is a scary place
But backwards is a sad disgrace
Stuck in the middle and forced to face
That there's no turning back
There's no turning back
There's no turning back
There's no turning back ♠

9.Circle of Love
Stay with me darlin, and don't fear the dark,
Come and sleep where it's warm from the sun,
Angels around you from morning to night,
In a circle of love, in a circle of light,
Come and sleep where it's warm from the sun.
Here is your shelter, the soft of my arms,
We can watch while the moon climbs the sky,
Angels around you from morning till night,
In a circle of love, in a circle of light,
Drift away while the moon climbs the sky.
I'll meet you there, and we'll play all night,
Till the amber light of dawn kisses your windowpane,
So, close your eyes and I'll sing lullabies,
Of babies, and buntings, and milky ways
This is my promise, my loved one, my life,
When you slumber the world can be yours,
Angels around you from morning till night,
In a circle of love, in a circle of light,
Wish that you may, wish that you might,
Pick any star that you see tonight,
'Cause in dreamland, the world can be yours. ♠

10.A Matter of Time
When I'm with you, I'm really with you,
Don't come any closer or I'll have to kiss you,
Stay with me baby, but don't stay too long,
'Cause it's just a matter of time
Until something surely has to go wrong,
You sweet romancer, my fancy dancer,
Don't come bangin' at my door, 'cause I won't answer,
Love me and leave me,
Be good and be gone
'Cause it's just a matter of time
Until something surely has to go wrong.
Now, when you're away, I'll be counting each day,
Missing you makes kissing you sublime,
But I have to admit, though it hurts quite a bit,
You're too much of a good thing at one time.
So love me tender, but please remember,
Keep a little distance or I might surrender,
Say that you love me,
And then say so long,
'Cause it's just a matter of time
Until something surely has to go wrong.
Now, time and again, I need more than a friend,
When I'm lonely, you're the only one,
But then time takes it's toll, and it wears at my soul,
'Cause what you wanna start, I wanna end.
So if you're needin, a little feedin,
Nibblin' at my ear could never be misleadin,
Move on me baby,
And then move along,
'Cause it's just a matter of time,
It's inevitable,
It's just a matter of time,
Until something surely has to go wrong. ♠

11.Don’t Lose It
Can you see the fairies dancing round your porch light?
Do you talk to angels in your bedroom at night?
Will you wish upon a star, skip a stone to see how far,
Or, more importantly, would you like to?
Will you sing your heart out though the shower's turned off?
Spend a lazy Sunday watching rose petals drop?
Keep those notes from Santa Claus,
Stamp your cards with puppy paws,
Or, more importantly, would you like to?
Don't lose it, don't lose it, emphatically refuse,
To let the adult put the child in you to sleep.
Embrace it, don't waste it, there's no such thing as grown-up,
'Cause the kid you were, you still are way down deep.
Do you keep your treasures in an old cigar box?
Memories in seashells, bits of robins egg and rocks,
Do you rescue living things? Feed them milk and fix their wings?
But, more importantly, would you like to?
Have you formed a friendship with the man in the moon?
Laid down on a hilltop, just to watch your balloon
Disappear into the sky, as you're whispering "Goodbye"?
But, more importantly, would you like to?
Don't lose it, don't lose it, emphatically refuse
To let the adult put the child in you to sleep.
Embrace it, don't waste it, there's no such thing as grown-up,
'Cause the kid you were you still are way down deep,
And dreaming is a habit you can keep. ♠

12.I Wonder What Became of Me
Lights are bright,
Pianos making music all the night,
And they pour champagne,
Just like it was rain,
It's a sight to see,
But I wonder what became of me.
Crowds go by,
That merry making laughter in their eye,
And the laughter's fine,
But I wonder what became of mine.
Life's sweet as honey and yet it's funny,
I get a feeling that I can't analyze,
It's like, well, maybe, like when a baby
Sees a bubble burst before its eyes.
Oh, I've had my thrills,
They've lit my cigarettes with dollar bills,
But I can't be gay,
For along the way
Something went astray
And I can't explain, it's the same champagne,
It's a sight to see
But I wonder what became of me. ♠

13.Island Paradise
If we were on a steamy desert island,
And I was wearing only a sarong,
Would you be there beside me in the evening breeze,
Sipping coconuts beneath the cool palm trees?
We'd play my ukelele in the moonlight,
And sing about the waves in Waikiki,
We'd wander hand in hand and then make angels in the sand,
A paradise for you and me.
We'll be all alone,
With no telephone to ring, no ding-a-ling,
Two castaways, adrift in a daze,
Time won't mean a thing.
It may be just a dream but I'm a dreamer,
And who's to say what could or couldn't be?
I'd leave it all behind if I could sail away and find
A paradise for you and me.
We'll be all alone,
With no telephone to ring, that nasty thing,
Two castaways, adrift in a daze,
Time wont' mean a thing.
It may be just a dream but I'm a dreamer,
And who's to say what could or couldn't be?
I'd leave it all behind if I could sail away and find
A paradise for you and me. Can't you see?
An island paradise,
Where the sun's always shinin', and you will be mine
In an island paradise
Of love,
Can't you see how lovely
It would be? ♠
